First 2 Geaux: First-Gen Students

The Â鶹AV applauds and honors its first-generation students. Join us in a week-long celebration of being #First2Geaux.

First-generation students are defined as students whose parents either did not pursue or did not complete a bachelor's degree (4-year) program.

As a part of the First2Geaux campaign, we encourage all students, faculty and staff to complete a survey regarding First Generation status.

Please note that all of the events listed below are subject to change. Check this page regularly for schedule updates and other important announcements.

Monday, November 6

Your Passport To Success: Learn about all the resources available to first-gen students on campus and pick up your First2geaux Passport! This is your passport to places, people and events on campus to visit during First-Gen Week — snap a photo or find the clue and get your passport stamped! The highest point scored will win a prize. Bonus: Everyone that participates will be entered into a drawing to win additional prizes! 
9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. | Table at the corner of Rex and St. Mary

Taking Your Next Step: Pursuing a graduate degree as a first-gen student can be daunting! Join us for a panel of faculty and students to learn more about the lives of first-gen graduate students and if graduate school is right for you.

Tuesday, November 7

Best Business You: First 2 Geaux students can shop the Career Closet, and get style tips.  Learn how to present yourself in a professional manner in every situation.

Tri-Alpha Induction and Cording Ceremony: National First-Generation Day Tri-Alpha students receive their cords for graduation.
