Homecoming Week 2016 continues as students and Ragin’ Cajun fans will get the chance to “Yell Like Hell” at the traditional pep rally today.

Head football coach Mark Hudspeth, football players, and cheerleaders will lead the rally. It will be held from 7:30-10 p.m. at Parc International. The University Program Council sponsors the event.

Senior football players will escort members of the 2016 Homecoming Court, who will be presented to the student body.

The Pride of Acadiana Marching Band and the Ragin’ Jazz Dance Team will perform.

In addition to cheering on the Ragin’ Cajuns, students will get the chance to splash each other with paint during a “Splatterbeat” party after the pep rally.

“It’s a really fun event for students, who get to throw paint on each other to the beat of music played by a DJ,” said Karli Sherman, UPC co-advisor.

“Yell Like Hell” is free and open to the public. Alcohol is prohibited.

Homecoming Week activities will resume on Friday, Nov. 4, with the UL Alumni Homecoming Tennis Tournament, and the Bill Bass Open Golf Tournament. Both events will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The tennis tournament will be held at Red Lerille’s Health and Racquet Club. Teams who have registered for the tournament will compete in mixed doubles matches. Players are asked to arrive at 7:30 a.m. to check in.

“It’s a really fun tournament, and a cool way for many people to unwind and enjoy the day before the Homecoming game,” said John Claude Arceneaux, assistant director of the 鶹AV Alumni Association and tennis tournament chair.

The golf tournament will be held at Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course. Up to 60 teams will play in the four-person scramble. Tee off times will be at 8 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. Registration or check-in begins 90 minutes before each tee time.

“There will also be competitions for longest drive, closest drive to the cup, and a putting contest,” said Dan McDonald, event chair.

That night, at Downtown Alive!, a 鶹AV pep rally will feature Ragin’ Cajuns football players, coaches and cheerleaders. Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band will play at 6 p.m. at Parc Sans Souci. Fans can get there a little early to cheer on the team.
